Café del Mar is marking its 45th anniversary in 2025 with a refreshed approach to its venue, music, and programming. Located on the San Antonio coastline in Ibiza, the iconic sunset bar is set to reopen for the season with updated interiors, an expanded focus on post-sunset sessions, and a curated schedule of events featuring local and international talent.
A new anniversary compilation is also on the way. The 30-track release includes music from Frankie Knuckles, Aphex Twin, Röyksopp, Derrick May, Todd Terje, Moby, and Gerald—highlighting the influence of the Café del Mar brand on chillout and electronic music since its founding in 1980.
The compilation follows the release of the fifth volume in Café del Mar’s Chill Out Mix series, with more releases planned throughout the year. These include vinyl repressings of classic compilations and a new artist album series, beginning with Pig&Dan on June 13.
This season, Café del Mar will also be the first venue in Ibiza to install the Elara.6 mixer, developed by audio engineer Andy Rigby-Jones, known for his work on the Allen & Heath Xone and MasterSounds mixers. The addition is part of an effort to elevate the venue’s sound experience during DJ sets and live events.
Café del Mar first opened in 1980 and has since become a key part of Ibiza’s music culture, known for its role in defining the Balearic chillout sound. Its 2025 season continues that legacy, with a renewed focus on resident DJs, label collaborations, and curated sunset-to-night experiences.
