Reflecting on its history, How Techno Shapes The Future explains how the genre was born as a futuristic sound that got people moving on the dancefloors of Detroit, eventually migrating to Europe, with Frankfurt coining the term “techno” in the 1980s.
The film delves into the influence of the techno scene on social media platforms like TikTok and its ripple effect on pop music and fashion, illustrating how the need to present everything online risks homogenizing the culture, stifling the individuality and experimentation that have been integral to the genre.
