Mixcloud Introduces New Host Tagging Feature For Radio Stations and Show Creators

Mixcloud just rolled out a new ‘host tagging’ feature. The feature allows radio stations and brands to officially tag show hosts to improve discovery and benefit from shared networks.

If you’re a show creator or DJ who makes guest mixes for other profiles, you’ll also want to keep reading…

For radio stations/brands:

Radio stations (and brands, mix series, nightclubs, labels, magazines, etc.) can now invite show creators to join their community and tag them in shows. A new profile layout allows stations to automate curation, whilst tapping into their hosts’ followers.

While hosts do require a Pro account for this, they don’t need Pro to accept the shows.

Here’s a quick feature breakdown from Mixcloud:

  • Tagging groups shows from the same host on your profile
  • Tagged shows get published directly to your hosts’ profiles
  • Host followers get notified for all shows you tag them in
  • Hosts feature your name on their profile

For show hosts/DJs:

For DJs and show hosts, Pro users can now accept or request to join a station/curator community and tag all their current and previous shows. Benefits include:

  • Get notified for all chart positions, reposts, comments and favourites
  • Feature a new hosts tab on your station/curator profile
  • Show off an official badge with your connected profiles
  • View stats for shows you are tagged in

In summary…

Considering the main drawback of Mixcloud has always been its user reach (at least when compared to say SoundCloud), this new tagging feature is another move in the right direction, with some users already seeing more traffic from using it!

Ever since I could get into 'proper' nightclubs, I've loved everything about the underground dance scene. The short story is, having always been an avid music collector, I used to DJ at a handful of bars & clubs around Europe through the 2000s - playing out mostly lounge, funky house, and open-format/commercial stuff. I’m also a radio show host and Founder here at The DJ Revolution.
