Pan-Pot’s 2-hour sunrise set at EXIT Festival, July 2021

With it being the first major European festival to go ahead since the pandemic began, we just had to cover something from Serbia’s famous EXIT Festival this year.

And we thought why not showcase one of our favourite techno DJs — German duo, Pan-Pot!

Some of the other DJs playing at this year’s EXIT included the likes of David Guetta, Eric Prydz (b2b Four Tet), Paul Kalkbrenner, Nina Kraviz, Solomun (who did a 5-hour closing set at the event), Boris Brejcha, Paul Van Dyk, Artbat and Hot Since 82.

This was the 20th anniversary of the event, which was once again held at the iconic Petrovaradin fortress venue.

The mix

In the last decade, Pan-Pot – real names Tassilo Ippenberger and Thomas Benedix — have become a dominant presence in the upper echelon of electronic dance music, regularly playing at venues such as Watergate in Berlin, Amnesia in Ibiza and the Gashhouder in Amsterdam.

This was a sunrise set, so the pair don’t hit it quite as hard as they usually might …in parts at least …which isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

Enjoy the mix!

More about EXIT Festival

In the previous two decades, EXIT positioned itself as one of the most important global festivals with not one but two Best European Festival titles.

The festival was founded in 2000 in the University Parkas a student movement, fighting for democracy and freedom in Serbia and the Balkans. After the Yugoslavian general election in 2000, EXIT moved to the Petrovaradin Fortress in 2001.

The festival was formed in the spirit of genuine youth rebellion, as a movement for freedom in Serbia and peace in the Balkans, the festival’s mission statement has been clear from the beginning – to achieve social change with music. Social responsibility is still the key aspect of the festival activities, with the main focus on environmental and humanitarian activities, the creative industries development, as well asregional cooperation.

During its 20-year-old history, EXIT has hosted internationally acclaimed music stars such as Pet Shop Boys, Billy Idol, The Cure, The Killers, Guns N’ Roses, Franz Ferdinand, Motörhead, Iggy Pop, David Guetta, Massive Attack, Liam Gallagher, Grace Jones, Fatboy Slim, Cypress Hill, Beastie Boys, Snoop Dogg, Wu-Tang Clan, The Prodigy, Migos, Sex Pistols, Kraftwerk, Korn, Moby, Arctic Monkeys, Chemical Brothers, Faith No More, LCD Soundsystem, Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds, Pulp, Jamiroquai, M.I.A., Slayer, Ellie Goulding, Hardwell, Carl Cox, Avicii, Nina Kraviz and many others.
