Hypnotised A Journey Through Trance Music (1990-2005)

Heads up trance fans — a new 322-page trance encyclopedia book has been released today!

Hypnotised: A Journey Through Trance Music (1990-2005) was officially published via Mary Go Wild. It’s by the author Arjan Rietveld.

Here’s a snippet from the official blurb:

‘Hypnotised is the first encyclopedia to cover the global trance movement during its most prolific years. The 322-page book spans a near-complete discography of supposedly essential albums, labels and releases, alongside exclusive photos and in-depth interviews with influential artists and label owners.’

Here’s what trance legends Armin van Buuren and Ferry Corsten had to say about the new book:

Most don’t know that the power of repetition was already understood by classical musicians. Their works can warp you into a trance-like state. Trance was built on those same principles and its influence on popular music has been widespread ever since. Although I am lucky enough to be part of trance since the late nineties, I still learned a great deal from this book.

Armin van Buuren

This encyclopedia dives deep into the history, meaning and evolution of trance, thereby exposing its importance as well as its footprint on other genres to dig inspiration from. A fantastic read that will most definitely raise eyebrows and bring ‘aha’ moments with the most dedicated trance fans and its harshest critics alike.

Ferry Corsten

This is one of very few trance music books out there. To buy Hypnotised: A Journey Through Trance Music (1990-2005), head over to Amazon.

For an additional charge, the book is accompanied by a 3LP compilation of fabled Dutch trance music, presented in association with Black Hole Recordings. We’ve included the full tracklisting for this below, which you can get via most streaming and download sites!
