A woman has died after being found unconscious inside a tent at this year’s Houghton Festival in Norfolk, with police confirming that the death is currently being treated as unexplained but is not believed to be suspicious.
According to The Times, Norfolk Constabulary was called to the festival at Houghton Hall on Sunday, August 9, following concerns for the woman’s safety.
Houghton Festival subsequently confirmed the death in a statement shared on Instagram on Tuesday:
“We are deeply saddened to confirm that a person has passed away at Houghton 2026. Our thoughts are entirely with their family and loved ones at this difficult time,” organisers said.
“We are grateful to our onsite medical team, event response team and to Norfolk Constabulary, who all responded immediately.
“We continue to work closely with the relevant authorities to support in any way we can with their investigations.”
No further details about the woman’s identity or the circumstances surrounding her death have been publicly confirmed.
Her next of kin have been informed and police enquiries remain ongoing.
